गाँव में जोगणी का आतंक - 2
साथियों, जैसा कि मैंने आपको बताया की ये कहानी लगभग 150 साल पहले की है। गांव में उस समय जनसंख्या भी ज्यादा नहीं थी।और ये उस समय की बात है जब हमारे देश में अंग्रेजों का राज़ था । अब उस समय गांव की जनसंख्या की बात करें तो उसमें लगभग तीन चार सो लोग रहा करते थे। एक तरह से आप उसे ढाणी भी कह सकते हैं, ; हालांकि आज तो हमारी ये ढाणी एक गांव में तब्दील हो चुकी है और लगभग पूरे गांव की जनसंख्या तीन से 4000 लोगों के आसपास पहुँच चुकी है, गांव में उस समय सभी लोग आपस में मिलजुल कर रहा करते थे। अगर किसी गांव के एक घर में कोई मुसीबत आती थी तो पूरा गांव उसकी मुसीबत को सॉल्व करने के लिए खड़ा रहता था। हालांकि आज के जमाने में हमें ऐसा देखने को नहीं मिलता बल्कि आज तो एक भाई दूसरे भाई के घर को काटने में लगा रहता है।
वो ज़माना अलग ही था जब सगा भाई ना होते हुए भी एक इंसान दूसरे इंसान के लिए अपनी जान देने के लिए भी तैयार रहता था। और लोगो की जो आपस में जुडे रहने की आदत के कारण ही शायद वो लोग उस समय इतनी बड़ी मुसीबत से मुकाबला कर पाए।अगर उस समय में सभी लोग अलग थलग हो जाते। और एक दूसरे की मुसीबत में एक साथ खडे नहीं होते तो शायद आज वह गांव जिंदा नहीं होता। और अगर वो गांव में जिंदा नहीं होता, तो में आपको ये कहानी नहीं सुना रहा होता क्योंकि मैं भी उसी गांव से आता हूँ।
उस जमाने मे गांव में ज्यादातर लोग खेती बाडी का कार्य किया करते थे क्योंकि उस समय पानी बहुत हुआ करता था। तो ज्यादातर लोग खेती से जुडे हुए कार्यों में ही लगे रहते थे। और सभी गांव वालों के पास काफी ज्यादा जमीनी हुआ करती थी। पानी की कोई कमी थी ही नहीं।
तो सब्जियां वगैरह उगाकर वो बाकी के आसपास के गांवों में यानी करीब 20-25 किलोमीटर के एरिया में सब्जियों की सप्लाई भी किया करते थे? वहीं पशुपालन का कार्य भी गांव में बड़ा ज़ोर शोर से किया जाता था। उस समय हर घर के अंदर दो तीन दूध देने वाले पशु तो मिल ही जाते थे, जैसे गाय और भैस । वहीं लगभग हर घर में तीन चार बकरियां भी हुआ करती थी।
गांव में सब कुछ ठीक ठाक चल रहा होता है।लोग अपना काम कर रहे होते हैं। औरतें भी खेती में काम कर रही होती है। बच्चे खेलकूद रहे होते हैं। यानी गांव धीरे धीरे अच्छे से प्रोग्रेस पर जा रहा था।
लेकिन फिर न जाने 1 दिन किसी की इस गांव पर बुरी नजर पड जाती है। जो हंसता खेलता हुआ गाँव था वो अगले एक महीने के लिए भयानक जगह बन जाती है। जहाँ कोई एक पल रुकना पसंद नहीं करेगा।
दरअसल क्या होता है कि गांव के कुछ एक दो घरों में उनके जो पशु होते हैं वो दूध देना बंद कर देते हैं। पहले तो ये चीज़ सभी को नॉर्मल सी लगी की पशुओं की कुछ तबियत खराब हो गयी होगी। कुछ और कोई छोटी मोटी परेशानी होगी। तो शायद दो चार दिन मे वो अपने आप ठीक हो जायेगे। लेकिन ये प्रॉब्लम धीरे धीरे बढ़ने लगी। अब एक दो घर नहीं, बल्कि धीरे धीरे 20- 25 घरों तक ये प्रॉब्लम पहुंचने लगी थी।
अब पशुओं ने दूध देना तो बंद किया ही किया, साथ ही साथ उनकी तबियत और खराब होने लगी और उन्होंने खाना पानी भी छोड दिया। अब खाना पानी छोडे हुए भी अभी 1 दिन ही गुजरा था कि कुछ पशुओं की अचानक मौत हो जाती है। और उन पशुओं के मरते ही उनके अंदर से एक भयानक गंध बाहर आने लगती है जिसमें रहना काफी दूभर हो जाता है। अब नोर्मल्ली जब कोई पशु मरता है तो इतनी जल्दी संभव नहीं है की उसके अंदर से बदबू आने लग जाए। लेकिन यहाँ पर तो ऐसा हो रहा था कि पशुओं के खत्म होते ही उनके अंदर से बदबू आना शुरू हो जाती थी।
और दोस्तों, मैं आपको यहाँ पर एक छोटी सी बात बता दूँ कि जब भी किसी घर में किसी साये का असर पडता है या कोई गलत चीज़ उस घर में घुस जाती है तो सबसे पहले उस घर में पेड पौधों और पशुओं पर उस चीज़ का असर होना शुरू हो जाता है। गांव के 20- 25 घरों के पशुओं के दूध बंद करने के बाद यह तकलीफ सभी गांव के पशुओं में फैल गई। करीब करीब गांव के हर पशु ने दूध देना अचानक से बंद कर दिया। और करीब आधे गांव के पशु तडप तडप के खत्म हो गए। तो इस घटना को देखकर गांव में जो बडे बुजुर्ग थे। वो थोडी चिंता में आ गए थे क्योंकि उन्हें शायद एहसास हो गया था की कुछ तो हमारे गांव में गडबड होने जा रही है। थोडे दिन और गुजरे थे की ये प्रॉब्लम और ज्यादा भयानक रूप लेने लगी। कई घरों के अंदर अचानक ही कपड़ों के अंदर आग लग जाती थी। और उस समय गावों मे कच्चे मकान थे तो हर दूसरे तीसरे दिन किसी भी झोपडी में आग लग जाना एक नॉर्मल सी बात बन चुकी थी। और दोस्तों, ये सभी चीजें दिनदहाडे हो रही थी।
यानी की ऐसा नहीं था की रात के समय में ही ऐसी चीजें हो रही हो और दिन में सबकुछ नॉर्मल सा हो जाता हो। ये चीज़ कभी भी घटित हो जाती थी। इसका कोई टाइम टेबल नहीं था। भरी दोपहर में हो जाती थी, शाम को हो जाती थी या फिर रात को भी हो जाया करते थे। जिन घरों के अंदर आग लग रही थी वो पूरे घर जल कर के तहस नहस हो जाते। हालांकि अभी तक इतनी बड़ी घटना नहीं हुई थी, जिसमें किसी इंसान की मौत हो जाए। लेकिन ये जो डरावनी चीजें थी जैसे घर में कपडे जल जाना। अचानक घर में जो बर्तन रखे हुए है वो नीचे गिर जाना। किसी की पूरी झोपडी जलकर राख हो जाना। अपने आप घर के अंदर जो पानी के मटके रखे हुए थे अचानक उनमें छेद हो जाना और वो पूरा नीचे गिर जाना । बिना चिंगारी के ही चूल्हे के अंदर आग लग जाना।

Jogani's Terror in the Village - 2
Friends, as I told you, this story is from about 150 years ago. At that time, the village didn't have a large population. And this was during the time when our country was under British rule. Back then, the village had a population of only about three or four hundred people. You could even call it a hamlet; although today, this hamlet has transformed into a village, and the population has grown to around three to four thousand people. At that time, everyone in the village lived together harmoniously. If a problem arose in one house, the entire village would come together to help solve it. Unfortunately, we don't see that kind of unity today; instead, brothers are often at odds with each other.
That was a different era altogether, when people were willing to lay down their lives for each other, even if they weren't related. And perhaps it was this strong sense of community that allowed them to overcome such a great hardship. If everyone had been isolated and hadn't stood together during that time of trouble, perhaps the village wouldn't exist today. And if that village didn't exist, I wouldn't be telling you this story, because I also come from that same village.
In those days, most people in the village were engaged in farming because there was plenty of water. So, most people were involved in agricultural activities. And all the villagers owned a considerable amount of land. There was no shortage of water.
They would grow vegetables and supply them to the surrounding villages, within an area of about 20-25 kilometers. Animal husbandry was also a thriving activity in the village. Every household had at least two or three milk-producing animals, such as cows and buffaloes. And almost every house also had three or four goats.
Everything was going well in the village. People were going about their work. Women were also working in the fields. Children were playing. In short, the village was slowly but surely progressing.
But then, one day, someone cast an evil eye on the village. The once happy and lively village became a terrifying place for the next month, a place where no one would want to stay even for a moment.
What happened was that in a couple of houses in the village, their livestock stopped producing milk. At first, everyone thought it was normal, that the animals might be a little unwell, or that there might be some minor problem. They thought the animals would probably recover on their own in a few days. But the problem gradually worsened. Now, it wasn't just one or two houses, but the problem had spread to 20-25 houses.
Not only did the animals stop giving milk, but their health deteriorated further, and they stopped eating and drinking. Just one day after they stopped eating and drinking, some of the animals suddenly died. And as soon as those animals died, a terrible stench emanated from them, making it unbearable to be around. Normally, when an animal dies, it's not possible for a foul smell to start so quickly. But here, as soon as the animals died, the stench began to spread.
And friends, let me tell you something important here: whenever a house is affected by a negative presence or something evil enters it, the first things to be affected are the plants and animals in that house. After the livestock in 20-25 houses stopped giving milk, this problem spread to all the animals in the village. Almost every animal in the village suddenly stopped giving milk. And about half of the village's animals died in agony. Seeing this incident, the elders of the village... They became a little worried because they probably realized that something was going wrong in our village. A few more days passed, and the problem started to take a more terrifying turn. Clothes would suddenly catch fire inside many houses. And since the houses in the village were made of mud at that time, it had become quite common for a hut to catch fire every two or three days. And friends, all of this was happening in broad daylight.
This wasn't something that only happened at night, with everything returning to normal during the day. These things could happen at any time. There was no fixed schedule. They would occur in the middle of the day, in the evening, or even at night. The houses that caught fire would be completely destroyed. Although no one had died in these incidents yet, these were terrifying occurrences: clothes catching fire inside the house, utensils suddenly falling to the ground, entire huts burning to ashes, water pots spontaneously developing holes and spilling their contents, and fires starting in the hearth without any apparent spark.
