ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी असम की एक बहुत लम्बी और पवित्र नदी है। ब्रह्मपुत्र के किनारे स्थित शहरों में गुहाटी, तेजपुर और डिब्रूगढ़ है। इस नदी में लोग अस्थि विसर्जन करने आते हैं। लोगों का मानना है कि इसके पवित्र जल से आत्माओं को मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है।

उसी नदी में मोहन नामका 15 साल का युवक तैरने आया करता था। मोहन अपनी तैरने की गति से ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी को 20 मिनटों में ही पार कर लेता। उसकी यही खूबी डिब्रूगढ गाँव के लिए गर्व और उसकी माँ के लिए चिंता का विषय था। कई बार मना करने के बावजूद मोहन ब्रह्मपुत्र में नदी तैरने जाया करता। मोहन अपनी माँ के साथ डिब्रूगढ़ गाँव में रहता था। उसके पिता बचपन में ही गुजर गए थे और उसकी माँ कपड़े सिलकर घर चलाती थी।

एक दिन, दत्ता परिवार अपने मृत बेटे रवि की अस्थियाँ ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी में बहाने आये। उसी वक़्त मोहन भी तैरने कूदा और नदी में प्रवाहित रवि की अस्थियाँ जल में बहते-बहते, मोहन के शरीर पर लग गयी। इस बात से अनजान, जब मोहन नदी से बाहर आया, तो उसने अपने शरीर पर जगह-जगह राख देखी, जैसे उसने राख से स्नान किया हो।

मोहन ने फिर से नदी में कूद के अपने शरीर से राख धो डाली। पर सिर्फ राख धो देने से मुसीबत ख़तम नहीं होती। इस बात से मोहन अनजान था और कपड़े पहनकर वापस घर चला गया।

रात के 1 बजे अचानक मोहन चिल्लाने लगा “मुझे इन्साफ चाहिए, वरना किसी के लिए ठीक नहीं होगा।” मोहन की आवाज़ सुनते ही उसकी माँ फ़ौरन उठके उसके पास गयी तो उसने अपनी माँ को ज़ोर से धक्का दिया और गुस्से से गुर्राते हुए बोला “ऐ बुढ़िया, चल मुझे मेरे घर छोड़के आ। मेरा घर गुहाटी में है।”

मोहन का ऐसा हाल देख उसकी माँ बहुत डर गयी थी। उसी वक़्त उन्होंने पड़ोस के लोगों को अपने घर में इक्कठा किया। पड़ोसियों ने मोहन की हालत देख के कहा “जरूर इसको किसी की नज़र लग गयी है, क्यूंकि यही गाँव में तेजी से ब्रह्मपुत्र जैसी नदी पार कर सकता है। मोहन को कल हम कामाख्या मंदिर ले चलेंगे, क्यूंकि वहां हर बाधा से छुटकारा मिलता है।”

कामाख्या मंदिर असम की पहाड़ी पर स्तिथ है और 51 शक्ति पीठों में से एक महा पीठ है। यह मंदिर अघोरी, साधू और तांत्रिकों का गढ़ माना जाता है। रहस्यों से परिपूर्ण यह मंदिर चमत्कारों का क्षेत्र है। यहाँ मन्नत पूरी होने पर बलि भी दी जाती है और हर तरह की काली शक्तियों से निवारण मिलता है।

अगले दिन जब मोहन की माँ और पड़ोस के लोग मोहन को कामाख्या मंदिर ले गए तो वहाँ पहुँच कर असली वजह सामने आयी। मंदिर की चौखट पे पैर रखते ही मोहन झटके से दूर हुआ। फिर वो ज़ोर-जोरसे चिल्लाते हुए भयानक हरकतें करने लगा, जैसे मंदिर के पास के पेड़ पर उल्टा लटकना, लोगों को पत्थर मारना और अपने शरीर को नाखूनों से नोचना। इतने में वहाँ एक साधू आ गये और उन्होने मोहन को देखते ही कहा “इस लड़के पर बुरी आत्मा ने कब्ज़ा कर लिया है और अब वो इसके शरीर में प्रवेश कर चुकी है। अगर इसका निवारण ना किया तो मोहन की जान भी जा सकती है।”

मोहन की माँ ने कहा “साधु महाराज, आप जैसे ठीक समझें वो करें बस मोहन ठीक हो जाये। मेरे जीने का एकमात्र सहारा अब मोहन ही है।”

साधु ने मोहन के सर पर हाथ रख के उसे शांत किया। फिर मोहन ने कहा “मुझे इन्साफ चाहिए।” साधू ने पूछा कौन है तू और इस बच्चे से क्या चाहता है?” मोहन ने जवाब दिया “मैं रवि हूँ, उस दिन जब मेरा परिवार मेरी अस्थियाँ बहाने ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी में आया, तो उसी नदी में मोहन तैर रहा था। मैंने उसी वक़्त इसके शरीर में प्रवेश कर लिया, क्यूंकि यही लड़का मुझे इन्साफ दिला सकता था।”

साधू ने अपने मंत्र शक्तियों से रवि की आत्मा को मोहन से अलग किया और रवि की आत्मा पर गंगाजल छिड़का। रवि की आत्मा गायब हो गयी और मोहन यह सब देख वहीँ बेहोश हो गया। साधू ने अपनी सिद्धियों से इस घटना का पता लगाया और मोहन की माँ से कहा “जब किसी का अस्थि विसर्जन हो रहा हो, तो राख में आत्मा का वास होता है। मोहन से यही गलती हुई। जब रवि का अस्थि विसर्जन हो रहा था, तब मोहन उसी वक़्त ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी में तैर रहा था और रवि की राख मोहन के शरीर पर लग गयी और इस तरह रवि को मोहन के शरीर में प्रवेश करने मिल गया।” यह सुनकर वहाँ मौजूद सब लोग हैरान हो गए और मोहन की माँ ने मोहन को कामाख्या देवी का आशीर्वाद दिलाया।

असम के भूतिया रहस्यों से शायद लोग अनजान हों पर कामाख्या देवी मंदिर के रहस्य जानने में आज भी लोग नाकाम हैं। वैज्ञानिक भी इस मंदिर के रहस्यों का पता नहीं लगा पाए। हम इंसान यह भूल जाते हैं कि कुदरत के कई ऐसे रहस्य हैं जिन्हें जानने की कोशिश हमें नहीं करनी चाहिए। कई बार रहस्यों के खुलने में बहुत भारी कीमत चुकानी पड़ती है और अनजाने में हम दैविक शक्तियों को चुनौती दे बैठते हैं।

                                                             Ash

The Brahmaputra River is a very long and sacred river in Assam. Cities located along the Brahmaputra include Guwahati, Tezpur, and Dibrugarh. People come to this river to immerse ashes in it. People believe that its sacred waters help souls attain salvation.

A 15-year-old boy named Mohan used to swim in that same river. With his swimming speed, Mohan could cross the Brahmaputra River in just 20 minutes. This ability was a source of pride for the village of Dibrugarh and a source of concern for his mother. Despite repeated warnings, Mohan would still swim in the Brahmaputra. Mohan lived with his mother in Dibrugarh village. His father had passed away when he was a child, and his mother worked as a tailor to support the family.

One day, the Dutta family came to immerse the ashes of their deceased son, Ravi, in the Brahmaputra River. Mohan jumped in to swim at the same time, and Ravi's ashes, floating in the river, touched Mohan's body. Unaware of this, when Mohan emerged from the river, he found ash all over his body, as if he had bathed in it.

Mohan jumped into the river again and washed the ashes off his body. But simply washing away the ashes wouldn't solve the problem. Unaware of this, Mohan put on his clothes and went back home.

At 1 a.m., Mohan suddenly began shouting, "I want justice, otherwise it won't be right for anyone." Hearing Mohan's voice, his mother immediately got up and went to him. He pushed her hard and growled angrily, "Old woman, come and drop me home. My home is in Guwahati."

Seeing Mohan's condition, his mother was terrified. Immediately, she gathered the neighbors at her house. Seeing Mohan's condition, the neighbors said, "He must be under some evil eye, because he's the only one in the village who can cross rivers like the Brahmaputra so quickly. Tomorrow, we'll take Mohan to the Kamakhya Temple, where every obstacle is relieved."

The Kamakhya Temple is located on a hill in Assam and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. It is considered a stronghold of Aghoris, Sadhus, and Tantriks. This temple, steeped in mystery, is a land of miracles. Sacrifices are also offered here to fulfill wishes, offering relief from all kinds of evil spirits.

The next day, when Mohan's mother and neighbors took him to the Kamakhya Temple, the real reason was revealed. As soon as Mohan stepped on the threshold, he jerked away. Then, screaming loudly, he began performing horrific acts, such as hanging upside down from a tree near the temple, pelting people with stones, and scratching his own body with his nails. Just then, a sadhu arrived and, upon seeing Mohan, said, "This boy has been possessed by an evil spirit and has now entered his body. If this is not remedied, Mohan could even lose his life."

Mohan's mother said, "Sage, do whatever you think is right, just let Mohan get well. Mohan is my only support in life now."

The sage calmed Mohan by placing his hand on his head. Then Mohan said, "I want justice." The sage asked, "Who are you and what do you want from this child?" Mohan replied, "I am Ravi. That day, when my family came to the Brahmaputra River to immerse my ashes, Mohan was swimming in the same river. I entered his body at that very moment, because this boy could get me justice."

The sage used his mantra powers to separate Ravi's soul from Mohan's and sprinkled Ganga water on Ravi's soul. Ravi's soul disappeared, and Mohan fainted at the sight. The sage, using his powers, discovered this incident and told Mohan's mother, "When someone's ashes are being immersed, a soul resides in the ashes. Mohan made this mistake. When Ravi's ashes were being immersed, Mohan was swimming in the Brahmaputra River, and Ravi's ashes touched Mohan's body, allowing Ravi to enter Mohan's body." Hearing this, everyone present was astonished, and Mohan's mother invoked the blessings of Kamakhya Devi for Mohan.

People may be unaware of the haunted mysteries of Assam, but even today, they remain unsure of the secrets of the Kamakhya Devi Temple. Even scientists have been unable to unravel its mysteries. We humans forget that nature holds many mysteries we shouldn't attempt to unravel. Sometimes, the price for unraveling these mysteries is too high, and we unwittingly challenge divine powers.
